We had a great new years day. We took turns warming up in the car between sleigh rides.

Nine Years Old
Birthday Cake time
We got rained out. Had to come inside.
They had lot of activities. Our friends the Lambert's went with us.
DPS put on a kids fair. We got everyone finger printed and their birth parents got to see them.

However Nikki would run screaming if anything even looked at her.

Kenny and Christine (bill's sister and brother in law) were in town to visit.

WOW it was sort of like going to a petting zoo. Pretty different going to the zoo's in Texas.
We had such a great time!
I felt so innovative since this was before the Captain Jack craze.
OH my we had so much fun. I made the "squid and jelly fish" our of hot dogs that i cut.
I died the bread dough for color, the kids were so grossed out! They thought the realy were jelly fish and squid and i had a very hard time convincing them to eat it.

We have tried to integrate our life more into positive aspects of the Native American culture.
We are very supportive of them understanding their heritage. You would be amazed at how hard it is to find books written about the Sioux or any native american culture that is not incredibly biased toward the English. As it is said, history is recorded by the triumphant in a struggle. Then also write the books.
(Birth Dad) Danny came to teach us all how to properly roll and cook fry bread.
Tina Speed (adoptive mom the the 3 older sibling of my kids) She came with the older boys. It was nice to get them together and learn as a family.
The tribes adoption procedure terminates parental rights the same day they do the adoption.
This put Bill and I in a weird position. We felt like we were not allowed to openly celebrate. The birth parents were there and were so upset it was hard to not be respectful of their pain. This led to the whole experiance being very sureal.
The much anticipated court date. We had no idea what to expect.
All of our plans, dreams and expectations were in the balance.

We went to minot to celebrate our adoption. We got to play in the water slides.
It was nice that the twins were getting old enough to enjoy the slide.

Indian Naming Ceremony
The children were very respectful during the ceremony.
Kaiyla was especially sober. Nikki was scared of the man and her birth father held her.
Thunder Dancer is Damon Indian name. He had already got it at a cerimoney.
The thought was the name woudl empower him to not be so afraid of the thunder. Using that same theory, Tyrell is Laughing boy, hoping that it wouldn't be an ironic name choice.
The boy in the sweatshirt is Damon, he is one of my children's biological brother.
And the girl in the middle is a cousin.
I think Leelani misses Damon most of all.
It was nice to be able to have him over to det to know the little ones more.
Damon spent the night with us. ( kids brother who was adopted out when he was young to his Auntie)
It was interesting for us to be able to watch him play. It was so fun to see the resemblences to Tyrell.

We are so proud of Leelani for choosing to be baptised.
She is a very sweet swirit and struggles with wanting to be a peace maker and wanting the opposite. HA!

Our lovely new home. Lydia did really good following the spirit and finding this for us.
I knew as soon as i heard the address that it was the house for us. That was very handy and made me feel better about things.

This was our first official family tree. Of course we had been together as a foster family,
There is really a different mental attitude. As a foster family, you are trying to provide them a good Christmas becuase you never know if they will have another one. As a real family it was a different feeling all together. It was nice to know we had many more Christmas's to look forward to.
